Updates - Bewitch 6550 + Border Patrol PSU

Good morning & good day to some of you =)

I apologize I have not been updating my blog for the longest time. Been busy traveling making sure that all telco towers are acquire and safe =). In addition, making arrangement to purchase a new home for myself and my future wife TSP =)

The great news is, I have sold all my rigs expect for the Sonus Faber Cremona auditor and planning big things for the new home when it comes to AV and hifi.

With the additional funds from the sales of my older rig have decided after weeks of auditioning int tube amps (breaking my back carrying the Cremona Auditor around) manage to find the prefect match for the Sonus Faber Cremona Auditor. My budget was +/- RM10 000 / GBP 2000 /USD 3000 .

Surprisingly for Vocals/Jazz (The music I'm into) the winner is the "BEWITCH 6550/KT88" A30 as known in the UK PURESOUND A30.

Was reading a few forum and was a lil skeptical about this lil amp because for these reasons:

1) Even from the same factory, Puresound statement was that the A30 its not the same as the Bewitch.
2) Never did believe any Chinese Amp would sound as good as the famous brands from Europe, America or Japan
3) Skeptical about the built quality, reliability of any chinese amps.

I have to thank a Doctor who is a friend of mine who introduce me to this lil amp and he has been playing hifi for the past 20 years and told me this lil amp can beat anything at sub RM10,000 / USD3000 / GBP 2000 .

AT first didn't believe him... After the auditioning a unit at a Hifi Shop and a home audition from the Doctor who borrowed me the amp for 2 weeks , I have to say... Thank you Doc and ordered one for myself (Export version).

From my understanding that the Bewitch factory produces Local, Export version for this amp. In short there are grades to it. Grade A which is more expensive are for export market and the cheaper ones for local China/HK markets. Sound wise, not too sure an A/B comparison with the PURESOUND but did a few comparison with other famous brands

All in all I must say yes the bewitch is not the same with puresound A30 on paper/email etc. But please do yourself a favor, Audition the bewitch against any int amps that is more expensive around RM10000/ USD3000 / GBP 2000 with your own speaker. You just might be just be as surprised as I was =)

Will match the Bewitch with a Border patrol power supply (which I'm looking at upgrading later) what reviewer says sounds like a damn expensive Ongaku amp. I have the review from HIFI+plus magazine on this little amp with the border patrol. If you want a read this review I can email a copy of this review to you.

The great news from Border Patrol is, now we in South East Asia can purchase the Border Patrol products directly from them. Please note there are not looking into appointing any agents in South east Asia.

Anyway, will update more once the Bewitch is in my hands.

In addition, building up a second system consist of Home theatre B&W, ARCAM and a good sub woofer ( The hunt is on)

  3. yes, the bewich 6550 is one of the finest tube amps you can buy. "made in china" is no longer a 2nd choice as you can see in the latest electronical tube constructions and general improvements (like mhzs cd player)
compared with a nicely tuned copland 501 the bewitch (burn in time 70 hours) provided much more space and a deeper bass
